Richard L. Alford grew up in a small town in western Kentucky. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Western Kentucky University in 1978, and completed graduate work in psychology before attending law school at the University of Louisville.
During law school, he was a member of the Journal of Family Law (now the University of Louisville Law Review) and served as Director of the University of Louisville Student Legal Research Group for two years. He was the recipient of book awards in Remedies and Wills and Trusts. While in law school, he worked for the Office of the General Counsel of KFC Corporation from 1984-1986. In 1986, Mr. Alford was awarded his Juris Doctor degree. After graduation, Mr. Alford practiced with two boutique law firms in Clearwater, Florida, and in 1991, he became a partner with Alford, Barber & Mariani. In 2002, he founded his sole practitioner firm, Richard L. Alford P.A.
Mr. Alford is admitted to the Florida Bar and licensed to practice in all state courts in Florida as well as the Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida. Mr. Alford is a member of the Clearwater Bar Association and the Florida Bar Association. While not practicing law, Mr. Alford enjoys spending time with his wife, their four children, and grandson.
